Conclusion

In conclusion, the heat lamp provided the plant with the essential keys to absorb more water than the other plants. Based on the data, the plant under the heat lamp absorbed 14 mL of water which was 4mL more than the plant in the window, and 7mL more than the plant in no light at all. The one part of this lab that stood out most to me was the fact that the plant in no light absorbed a significantly lower amount of water than the other plants. I did not expect that. The plants that were given a more powerful lightsource absorbed more water than the plants with a less powerful source because the heat of the light affected the amount of water that the plant needed in that instant. If the time frame was over a longer period of time, the plant in the stronger light source would have still absorbed more water, but there would be less of a gap in the data. One thing that may have altered the results is if i spilled any water when i was measuring the amount of water left. This investigation would help a person trying to grow plants inside decide which light source would be healthier for the plant.
